District Governor Norm Binden Speaks to our Club

DG Norm spoke to our club on the 2009-09 theme of Make Dreams Real (for the worlds children). This theme is not a change in direction for Rotary but a call to action on our major initiatives of Health, Hunger, Literacy and Clean Water.
Norm has been involved in The Rotary Club of Brampton since 1991. He is currently a consultant to the Airline industry after his career as a pilot for Air Canada. Some key points on his talk are below:
- His wife Elizabeth usually attends with him but is recovering from eye surgery.

Member of Rotary club of Brampton since 1991.

Held several positions in District office until his appt as Dist Governor.

Has to attend all 52 clubs in District during his year in office. Also attends club meetings for special events. Likes to visit other clubs.

He recognized our club for Community projects and Involvement in Area activities.

Theme for 2008/2009 "Make Dreams Real"

Focus on reducing preventable childhood deaths under age 5. Causes are malaria, polio, malnutrition, potable water.

Approx 10 million deaths per year. But our efforts are helping reduce this rate.

Ongoing focus for Rotary is HEALTH, HUNGER, LITERACY, CLEAN WATER.
