Committee Reports

Dragon Boats- David Harris asked for help Sunday nights, Fun League, taking boats in & out of the water.
Dragon Boat Festival is coming up, August 10th.  This is an "All hands on Deck" fundraising event for the Club.  Everyone is asked to volunteer. Sign up sheet was circulated.  David asked for some one to champion the volunteer list for the Festival.  Past Pres. Melissa jumped at the request.  Thanks Melissa!
July 15th is the early bird cut off for reduced team fees.
David reported that sponsorship for the Festival was down this year.  He challenged Members to find "Heat Sponsors" at $100 each.  It's an easy ask, and for many businesses or individuals, $100 maybe quite affordable.
So, the challenge is on....help your club by bringing in one, or 2 or even 3 "heat Sponsors" for this years Woodstock Rotary's Dragon Boat Festival!
Posters for the festival are available, contact David Harris.

Pres. Ron presented Past President Melissa with the President Citation Award for the 2012/2013 term.

Habitat for Humanity Update

Robin Ferro introduced Jeff Duncan, Habitat for Humanity, London.  Jeff presented a plaque of appreciation to past Pres. Melissa, for Rotary's lead in Habitats first build in Woodstock.
Jeff reported that there are 2 pieces of property on Main St. Designated for Habitat builds.  They presently have a family finalizing their paperwork and Habitat is looking for a second family.
Jeff asked if anyone knew of a family that might welcome an opportunity of owning their own home, to pass this information along.
Habitat for Humanity is presently looking for volunteers to join a Steering Committee for these builds.  He reported that much of the leg work has been done, responsibilities will not be as much as with the first build.  Jeff is hoping that Rotarians will step up to the ask once again.  They are looking for 6-8 people to form this Steering Committee.  Interested?  Contact Jeff Duncan.

President's Address

Our brand spanking New President Ronald Fraser delivered his "President's Address", Engage Rotary, Change Lives, is Rotary's 2013/2014 theme.  Read Pres. Fraser's address attached.

Today's meeting ended with President Ronald Fraser giving his "Elevator Speech" about how & why he's a Rotarian.  Each pod has been asked to deliver 3-4 "Elevator Speeches" each month.  These will be compiled to form a library of our clubs, "Why I chose Rotary".

Have a great week!
